The average puppy comes equipped from the factory with four on the floor, a set of teeth plus all the necessary instincts and aggression required for survival. Apart from that, all puppies are unique in relation to the degree of the instincts and aggression each puppy inherits. There are more than 20 types of aggression that can become problems. A puppy’s natural instincts combined with their environment influence aggression. Once an aggression has become established, it can never be extinguished, it can only be managed. Prevention eliminates the need for correction and proactively training a puppy from the youngest possible age is the most effective way of avoiding unwanted aggression. Training a puppy with praise is far more effective than using negative reinforcement. Punishment-based training can actually create aggression by making a puppy fearful, causing some to protest or bite in self-defense. A puppy should only learn to trust hands and never to fear them! We never say NO… We only say GOOD!
